Ghost

“When you send me a pulse

Feel a wave of new love through me
I’m dressed in white noise
You know just what I want so please
Wonderful electric, wonderful electric
Wonderful electric, cover me in you

I’m in love, I’m in love
I’m in love with a strict machine
I’m in love, I’m in love
I’m in love with a strict machine”
- “Strict Machine” by Goldfrapp, off the album Black Cherry

My favorite Goldfrapp song! And, consequently, my favorite Goldfrapp video!

“Tiptoe, over me, tiptoe
Tiptoe, over me, tiptoe

You feel good, you feel right
You’re so good

Tears start over nightly
Go away, tears start over
Here over you, tears start over
Tears start, tears start over you”
- “Tiptoe” (live) by Goldfrapp, off the album Black Cherry (one of my favorite Goldfrapp songs)

Did I mention that, in addition to the girls with sparkly horse heads, there also used to be girls dressed as wolves?

“Dial up my number now
Weaving it through the wire
Switch me on, turn me up
Don’t want it baudelaire
Just glitter lust
Switch me on, turn me up
I want to touch you
You’re just made for love”
- “Ooh La La” by Goldfrapp, off the album Black Cherry

One of the many, many reasons I love Alison Goldfrapp and Goldfrapp the band is because of their commitment to themes. Every album has a common theme, no so much throughout the music, but throughout all the other stuff that goes into marketing an album. My favorite Goldfrapp album, Black Cherry, also happens to have my favorite theme: little Red Riding Hood/the violent side of nature (as opposed to Felt Mountain’s love of nature), complete with baby-doll dresses, wolves, and a liberal use of the color red.

“Put your dirty angel face/Between my legs and knicker lace”

…yes, ma’am.
